Tips & Tricks To Simplify Your Life

So I came up with this guide when I was talking to Karla about movement controls. I said you can hold down the mouse button in a certain direction and move it, the character will follow your cursor without you needing to perform any addition actions other than moving the cursor itself to direct your character. So I hope this guide will be useful for veterans and newbies alike, if you have any tips or tricks to share, you can go ahead and post them here and I will add them when I get a chance!

Movement and Location-based

Let's get right to it, we'll be covering a few tips that I've shared with some people about using your location effectively and getting out of bad situations. Here are a few of them:

- If you're not the kind of person that likes to constantly have to re-buy your map move scroll, you can do one of two things to combat this. You can have an extra two or three in your inventory to use when your main one runs out, or if you have an open warehouse scroll, dedicate a few slots to some map-moves and use that way instead, less inventory clogging.

- If you don't like to click much, you can hold down the left mouse button and point in a direction, your character will follow the cursor. You can also move the cursor around while the character is following it. Note that you must have the left mouse button held down at all times.

- If you like to PvP a lot, I'm sure you've come across the problem of auto-attacking. This is where movement skills come in handy, no you do not need reflexes as much as if you didn't use this method. Within the duel box, you have quite a bit of space to move around, however sometimes this space is not enough (archers specifically encounter this problem more often than other classes). When the duel has started MOVE AROUND A LITTLE so that the game won't force an auto attack on you in the beginning. Move around and mash the key you want to use, you'll get it nine out of ten times.

- In a map which supports PK mode, it is usually best to avoid channels 1, 3, and 10. For the reasons being they are usually the most populated, you don't want to run into a PKer. (Clise with some additions by me)

Combat

Here I'll discuss some tips and tricks with combat, I will not go into detail about classes, however I will share some general all-class tips.

- When grinding in Nera Harbor make sure that if you're the tanker, do not get stunned. A good way to avoid this happening is to move around a little and let them attack you just a little (yes this is part of the movement section too, but I thought it would fit better here). I will explain why this works so well. Just after a monster attacks, they stand still for a second, allowing you to move away. Using this knowledge, moving around lets only a few monsters attack you at a time, yet equally distributing hits among all the monsters in the horde, so they won't lose aggro. Keep spamming attract circle and you're good to go!

- When dungeon dating in levels 81-100, you will notice that some monsters have a maximum amount of them able to be within one horde. Unfortunately, classes without attract circle are pretty much screwed when coming to face these monsters (Plantis, Pegasus, Treent, Pixies, Darksteed, Evil Servant, Tormented Ghoul, Abyss Knight). However if you cannot get all the monsters at once, that's okay. Most classes have more than one AoE, and most of these monsters cap at four of that monster. Just go to one side of the DD ring, AoE, then to the other, and AoE again.

However in Damp Cavern it's a slightly different story, just use one AoE per time they spawn. If you wait for them all to spawn, they will lose aggro on you very quickly and almost no monsters will want to attack you. So I'd advise spawn-killing in place of waiting for them all to spawn.

- Some monsters are more powerful than others. I call them mini-bosses, although the term is not suitable at all, I have to other word to describe them. Examples are Cyclopes, Treents, GIants, Kentauros, the likes, that give more exp and gold than others but are harder to kill. You can grind on these monsters a lot longer than regular ones.

- Ranged users, there's a reason why you're ranged. Stay away from the target, you'll have a better chance of survival. Don't let them get close. If you have movement speed, it's a good idea to run away from them if you can't take them down in a few shots. (Jonah told me I should add this, Kudos)

Crafting / Item-Related

Here I'll go into tips you can use when dealing with crafting or deciding what to do with items.

- Always buy more than what you need, if you can afford it of course. If I wanted five stacks of opals, I'd buy seven just to be safe, it will save you TONS of time, at the cost of money.

- When destroying items, always keep in mind selling them is more profitable, however some items are worthless either way and should be destroyed (sketch material for example).

- When crafting with low success rate, be prepared to craft another of the same item if it fails, always have twice the amounts of molds / items / stacks, it will save time. The lowest success rate that I'm aware of is 40% chance, which simplifies to a two in five chance. Which isn't bad really, if you have the extra items you'll have a greater chance of getting your desired item faster, rather than only using what you need. Of course, don't do this if you're poor, cause then it's just a waste.

- You can dedicate your first inventory bag to exp scrolls, nostrums, a map move, and two stacks each of your preferred strength HP/MP potions. This allows easy access to things you need, right in the first bag, no junk can fill it either since it's full. Find stuff easy and avoid accidental deletion. (Clise)

Other

Tips that don't fit into other sections.

- Take advantage of your skill bar, it can be used not only for skills. Have one page for your main/grinding skills, one page for buffs, one for nostrums, and one for a PvP skill set. This way you have everything within short reach. (Jonah)

Final Note

I'd say this was a short, sweet, and to the point guide. If you'd like to add tips (as these are nearly all I know that would help people in any way) please post them below. I will credit you. Thanks for reading this guide and I hope you learned something, till later.

I like to dedicate my first inventory slot for Nostrums, 20% Exp, Save Exp scrolls, map move, and 2 stacks each of HP/MP pots. Perfect fit.

This allows easy access to things you need, right in the first bag slot. And no junk can fill it either since its full.

Nice and organized, to prevent the deletion of an item by mistake. Find stuff easy to.

Another tip I would give, is that if you are in a PK zone The Way to Howling Ravine and up. I suggest switching to a higher channel. This will make it less likely to crash into another grinding person/group, and you won't get PKed. Won't have to deal with Spot claimers or KSers.

Nice, adding this too.

As for the Combat section, you may want to add some information concerning PVP, mainly for ranged classes. Movement speed, Hit and Run types, etc. Using their range to their advantage and running away quickly as possible.

Righto, I'll get onto that.

Here's another: Assigning buffs to your second skill bar and nostrums to your third. Maybe a pvp skill set to the fourth. That way you have easy access to them and can still keep your main skill set on the first bar.
