To make an item red, all you have to do it click on the item, hit "edit" in the booth (like you were going to change it's price), and while you're editing that item, scroll onto another item in your booth, click it, and hit edit on that item. If you do it correctly, your item will stay red. For a "1 gold price", just put 1 as your price when you try to sell it lol. Items valued at 1 in your booth cannot be bought.

It sounds like you're talking about the Auto Note option on your actions list. I believe this was used to report bot users on the official server (assuming that's what they meant by "auto"). I don't think it even works on this server, it's pretty useless anyways since you can simply report people on the forums. It isn't used to ban people though, only staff members with the position of GM and higher can ban people.
