When starting programming I recommend you try something simple like Ruby or Python. That'll get you a feel for what coding generally is. Then you can move onto other languages. If I'm not mistaken, the game is coded in C+(+?) or C#, or C. Something with C, lol. I'm learning Python at the moment, it's really quite simple. I tested it with Shrewd Spell. No noticeable difference. If skills had magical cast speed, it would technically hit faster, right? But it doesn't.
