Why Can't I Combine Certain Items Into 1 Stack?

its driving me crazy. during the tutorial it showed me how to split a stack. i then tried to combine it and they just switch slots instead of combining to form a stack. i've had this problem with other items as well

This happens to me usually when I mob, and then it drops multiple stacks of the same item. If it happens so that there are 2 stacks of the same item with more than 1 item in it, they will refuse to stack, the only option is destroying the item (so far to me).

I had this problem yesterday with rough diamonds, Today it worked just fine though ( stacking the same diamonds that is)

It will do that occasionally, If switching maps don't fix it, move the bugged items into a different spot, then combine them usually works.

 

Re-logging is an all-fix also.

just change server or change map just like Clise say :)

I never actually tried to change maps, too lazy or the item just wasn't worth it.
