For PVP/wars, Magnus is probably better since it has better auras and Protection Aura on top of that. They can get really nice attack, too. Yet at the same time, Paladins get crazy block rate, lots of HP, and they can still get really good damage, even if you decide to go 1h. So it's really up to you.
